Have you ever wanted to improve your vision? You probably have. In many cases, getting prescription contact lenses or prescription glasses can take care of your vision problems. There are, however, other options to consider. In terms of more permanent vision correction solutions that don’t involve glasses and removable contacts, there is always LASIK and implantable contact lenses (ICLs).

But which one should you choose? Is Puerto Rico LASIK a better option? Or should you get ICLs? Let’s take a look at both and maybe that will help you make a decision.

LASIK Laser Eye Surgery

LASIK is a refractive surgery option that has helped millions worldwide improve their vision. The surgery involves the use of a safe surgical laser to reshape the cornea. By reshaping the cornea, the light that passes through your eyes will be better focused on the retina in the back of the eye. For those who are not good candidates for LASIK, Puerto Rico custom PRK and LASEK are both solid refractive surgery alternatives.

Implantable Contact Lenses (ICLs)

Implantable contact lenses are just what they sound like. These are artificial lenses that are used to enhance the vision of the natural lens of the eye. (This is what differentiates ICLs from IOLs that are used in cataract surgery.) The ICLs are implanted between the iris and the natural lens of the eye.

LASIK or ICLs?

The answer to this question will really come down to a number of factors involving your own eye health. LASIK is generally more affordable than ICL surgery and is less invasive as well. However, ICL surgery is reversible whereas LASIK surgery is not. It should also be noted that ICL surgery may be a viable option if you are not a good candidate for LASIK.
